New Endeavors
January 1st, 2020 marked the beginning of not only a new year, but a new decade. For me this was significant as it allowed me to reflect on the on previous decade...all that it WAS, and all that it wasn’t.
I began DJing in 1998. Twenty two years ago. But along with that, I began making beats shortly after. Somewhere around 2000….2001. DJing filled an immediate need. There were always parties and events and cookouts that needed music. The feedback is immediate as often are the monetary results. Producing is a much more lonely endeavor....
My attempts at producing have been sporadic and full of stops and starts. There was my initial phase from the early 2000’s til about 2006. Then life happened. Life happened HARD. And music all but came to a complete halt. My passion was resurrected from the dead by my friend and brother, producer Maja7th. From 2012-2014 I created like my life depended on it. But the results...were not so immediate
For years I’ve talked myself out of publicly releasing the beats I’ve created. Self-doubt, unending comparisons, and the constant mental message on repeat that....”Nobody wants to hear your beats”.
Which to this point, in all honesty has been true.
The reaction to me trying to step out into the role of “producer” has been met by general apathy. With the exception of 1 or 2 people at the MOST. And one of those people is the afore mentioned Maja7th who is an exceptional producer in his own right. But him being excellent at something never stopped him from supporting me when I was mediocre, and then average, and then okay...and then good.
So my goals for the year 2020 are to do what I spent a decade procrastinating on and talking myself out of doing. This very website had been on my goal sheet for nearly 5 years, but the thought that “Nobody wants to visit your website, who are you? What do you even need a website for...” kept it as only an item on a list instead of the reality it is now. Projects and ideas that I’ve aborted will come to light in 2020.
Even if no one is listening...
First things first, you’ll see a new remix from me once a month, so that will be 12 remixes done by me by the end of the year.
April 2020...my project that I’ve been sitting on for 7 years will be pushed out into the world.
